Getting ready for Christmas!

I have been way too busy (and stressed) as of late. ARG! Did Christmas sneak up on us this year, or what?! Luckily I have a super awesome hubby who not only shops for me, but also wraps the presents! Muahahaha.

The kids are/were still in school this week. Today was their last day before break. It's an odd thing, half days for half a week. I'm not sure what I think of it. On one hand, I do like that we have two day off at the tail end of the New Year. On the other, because they did half days this week, we lose a full day. What's up with that? I'd rather them go a full day than two half days!

Oh, and guess what? Bekah left her jacket at school for the holidays! Special.

Yesterday Steven came home early and the kids were home by 12:30, so I bundled them all in the car for a huge grocery trip. Have I mentioned how much I hate the grocery store? Well, I do. However, I super love when they're all with me because the kids are at the age where they actually help.

I decided I'd treat them for lunch out. It was our first trip to Chili's since we moved back to the States (Steven has gone with the boys, but the kids and I haven't). The kids were THRILLED. It amuses me how much they adore that place.

Afterwards we did our shopping trip.

Side note: I can not find everything I need at one store here! My "big" trips are always on base because it's cheaper. But it annoys me that I have an equally long list of things I need from Walmart. ARG. For instance, they had NO ground beef at the commissary. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?!

Walmart is worse, though. They rarely have anything I'm looking for. But their produce ROCKS (this I find equally as strange).

When we were done, the kids came home and read. I still stick with the theory that iPads will prompt reluctant readers. Seth now asks me to read Just Because (!!!!). It's shocking.

He will not, however, smile for me. I asked him, "Hey, can you give me a smile?" This is what I got:

So I said, "Fine, obviously you don't want to be nice, and only nice boys get Christmas presents." *wink*

That was yesterday... Today I need to get my OTHER grocery shopping done. zzzz! I'm still not dressed yet, if that's any indication of how this day is going.

Oh, and I have been working. Kinda, sorta. I'm looking forward to the New Year. With any luck, I'll be finished and can start a fresh book. *crossing fingers*

That picture of your daughter in bed reading is awesome! Magical even!

My wife builds to a stress point this time of year and I think she just got over the hump. THANK GOODNESS!! My company gives a ham every year and Wally World has everything else we need (and some we don't). Our daughter comes home this afternoon and the son arrives on Christmas eve, after that she'll be in seventh heaven!

And....LOL about the jacket! :)
