Still Editing

I'm still slogging through edits. I started on Sunday so today is day 5 of edits. Currently I'm on chapter 9 (pg 83) of 27 (241 pages). Almost halfway! Woo hoo!

That's really not bad, considering that I'm changing it from 3rd to 1st. I'm pretty happy with the progress.

However, there is this side of me that just wants to be DONE. :) Because of that I'm pushing to get this thing finished by the weekend. I can't do much on Saturday (or Sunday for that matter) as it's Bekah's birthday.

And then?

... It starts all over again.

I WILL BE A PUBLISHED, SELLING (IN HIGH NUMBERS, HA!) AUTHOR OR I WILL DIE TRYING.

In the Midst of Edits

How much do I love thee,
My laptop?

I cringe to think of the “old days,”
Typing and re-typing
Now a simple cut and paste,
Sweet, blessed utilities.

I love modern times,
I love the convenience,
The ease of change,
Always rearranging.

I love you,
My laptop

Done

Draft completed on Aug 11 (4 days later than Aug 7th goal).

Word Count: 57,566

Pages: 241

Goal for edits: finished by Aug 28th

I'm still alive

So much to talk about! I have been busy, busy, busy! And now I am so tired it’s hard for me to make full sentences. This might be a problem since I want to finish the chapter I’m working on tonight.

62 days till my vacation (and birthday). Weee! Can’t wait.

Long and short of what I’ve been up to…

Book… I have been working on it. Promise. It’s not quite done yet. The first draft should be finished this week. Though, three-fourths of it will be in Third person and the other fourth in First. SIGH.

I finished my query (till I tinker with it a bit more) and I wrote my synopsis (I do have to look this one over a bit). And I have a new idea that I think I’m going to go with for my next book. I’m still working on figuring out the pesky plot.

I helped my mom redo one of her bathrooms. That was a gargantuan task, let me tell you. I have absolutely horrible pictures that would describe my suffering, but I would have to download them from my camera and I’m too tired to do that.

I ordered Eclipse from Amazon because I knew I wouldn’t have time to read it this last week so I figured I’d have it delivered. BUT… it hasn’t even shipped yet! Grumph. I guess it’s okay though, I really do need to work. That would just be one more thing to get me off track. I can’t wait to read it.

And for the big news, I met Sarah, Kevin and their family. SO MUCH FUN! She is just as great in person as she is on her blog, fun, sweet and funny. Seth and Bekah LOVED their kids. Seth asks to see his “new friends” constantly. And Kevin is a FANTASTIC dad.

I’ll be back to update when I finally finish this draft!

La... La... La...La... I can't hear you!

[FOUR MONTHS AGO - CHAPTER 3]

Inner Voice (IV): You know, this book would be so much better if you wrote it in First Person.

The Stupid One (ME): I like Third Person Limited.

IV: But it would be better in First.

ME: I can't write in First.

IV: Try it.

ME: You're crazy.

[THREE MONTHS AGO - CHAPTER 12]

IV: Are you sure you want to stick with Third?

ME: Not really, but I don't want to go back and change it now.

IV: Isn't it better to change twelve chapters than to change an entire book?

ME: I'll just leave it and see what happens.

[ONE MONTH AGO - CHAPTER 16]

ME: I hate this book and I hope it dies a slow death.

IV: That's because you're not telling the story correctly.

ME: It's my story and I can tell it any way I darn well want to.

IV: Whatever.

[TONIGHT - CHAPTER 22 @ 49K WORDS]

ME: Waaaaaah. This sucks.

IV: Just try to rewrite the first chapter in First Person.

ME: Can't.

IV: Save the other draft. It's not like you have to commit to anything.

ME: FINE! You'll see. It will suck.

[..... REWRITE FIRST CHAPTER IN FIRST PERSON....]

ME: Holy guacamole, Batman. THIS IS FABULOUS!

IV: Aren't you happy you finally admitted your voice was wrong?

Me: I sure am.

IV: Best you've ever written, right?

ME: It sure is!

IV: Yeah, don't you wish you would have figured this out FOUR MONTHS AGO?!

ME: Er...Crap!
